Buzz Wipes! have been fully lab tested here in Australia and are registered with the APVMA (A department of the Australian Federal Government)..... According to the APVMA's own website, "registration means a product is safe and will work when used according to the label" .
Buzz Wipes! use the active ingredient DEET (N,N-Diethyl-meta-toluamide). at about 1/3 of the recommended maximum concentration for children (as recommended by American Academy Of Pediatrics). Even though Buzz Wipes! are mild, they are still highly effective. More DEET doesn't necessarily mean greater effectiveness.
DEET-based repellents are recommended by the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and state and local public health officials, among others.

We have chosen to keep our DEET levels relatively low (at around 7%) in order to produce a safe, low irritant product that is suitable for children. Evidence suggests that higher levels of DEET do not necessarily make a product more effective, they just mean the product will last longer without the need for reapplication. Even so one application of Buzz Wipes! should last anywhere from 2.5 to 4 hours unless you are swimming or sweating excessively.
In an ideal world we would not have to use chemicals such as DEET. However scientific testing suggests that "all natural" insect repellents are simply not effective.
